Course Planning

Welcome Class of 2027 to Northgate High School!  This is the start of a four year journey and we can't wait for you to become part of the Bronco family.  To all current Broncos, this is the place to continue planning for your continued high school success at Northgate.

Starting with our Info Nights each winter, we offer our support in helping you develop your high school experience in a positive and productive manner.  Several resources related to the course selection process are available on this page, but feel free to reach out if you have questions or need additional help.

Course Selection Packets

Course packets will be given to current 9-11th grade students in their English classes and will be posted to Google classrooms. New to Northgate students can download their packets here, and submit via email to cooperk@mdusd.org.

Course packets are due January 20th and will be submitted to English classes. Current NHS students must ALSO enter their course requests online on Homelink, through their student account. Course packets are due for incoming 8th graders by February 24th.

All packets are for next year's (2023-24) grade level

SEEKING COURSES OUTSIDE OF NORTHGATE HS

  • Courses may be taken at accredited institutions for enrichment or advancement. This includes Diablo Valley College, Los Medanos College, Silicon Valley HS, BYU Online, etc. Check with a counselor if you have questions about accreditation. Courses may not be taken with these institutions to meet graduation requirements, and will not be added to the high school transcript.
  • Courses taken for advancement (primarily world languages and math courses) must be complete before a student is scheduled into the next level course. Transcripts must be sent to the registrar. These courses will not be added to the high school transcript.
  • Some courses taken at community college may be added to the high school transcript if they are not offered at Northgate High School. This includes languages that the school does not offer (French, American Sign Language, Cantonese, etc), and if they are UC Transferable, they may provide a GPA bump for honors credit if added. These courses, when added, count against the AP Limit of 6 courses. Talk with your counselor for more information.
