Congratulation Cori Starr – 2018 NBC Sports Bay Area All-Star Teacher

NBC Sports Bay Area (@NBCSAuthentic) announced today that Cori Starr of Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, Calif. is the winner of the 2018 All-Star Teacher Award, presented by Provident Credit Union (@ProvidentCU).  Starr has been awarded $20,000 for her school.

In its 12th year, the All-Star Teacher Award recognizes middle and high school teachers in Northern and Central California for their extraordinary dedication to their students and significant presence within their communities.  An esteemed panel of judges selected this year’s finalists based on four categories: Overall CommitmentExcellence in TeachingRapport with Students; and Level of Distinction.  This year’s five finalists are: Craig Bryant of Albany High School (Albany), Jennifer Click of Edison High School (Fresno), Sergio Hernandez of Katherine R. Smith Elementary (San Jose), Michael Ruibal of Black Diamond Continuation High School (Pittsburg) and 2018 All-Star Teacher Cori Starr of Northgate High School (Walnut Creek)

Since its inception in 2007, the All-Star Teacher Award program has donated $20,000 to public schools in Northern and Central California.  For the eighth straight year, NBC Sports Bay Area has teamed up with Provident Credit Union to award the winning teacher’s school $20,000, up from $10,000 in past years.

Parents of Northgate Athletes – Athletic Registration and Physicals at Northgate Information

Our mandatory athletic registration is now open for 2018-2019! All student-athletes wishing to participate in sports at Northgate must complete the registration process every year. We advise all parents to complete the registration during the summer. Even if your child only plays a winter or spring sport, please register during the summer to ensure that you receive all the communication from coaches.

Athletic Physicals are set to take place at Northgate High School in the Sports Medicine building on the following dates/times this summer:
  • June 27, 2018 (6:00 – 8:00pm)
  • July 30, 2018 (6:00 – 8:00pm)
Physicals at Northgate cost $50 and can be paid by check on the day of the physical, or by credit card using the link below. The proceeds from the physicals go towards supporting the Sports Medicine program at Northgate.
These are the only two days Glen Barker, local doctors, and our Sports Medicine Department will provide athletic physicals for the 2018-2019 school year. All student-athletes must complete an athletic physical to tryout and participate in athletics at Northgate.

Course Selection 2018-19

Dear Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Parents and Students,
As we a prepare to complete the course selection process, we wanted to bring everyone’s attention to the following steps and resources to support everyone in completing this by our February 23rd deadline.
  1. Make sure you have filled out and obtained any necessary signatures on your Course Selection Worksheet. These will need to be turned into your child’s English class by Friday, February 23rd.
  2. Before turning in your forms, please complete the Homelink Course Request Entry located under your student’s Homelink account? The window for entering in courses online will close Monday, February 26th at midnight.
  3. Electronically submit an AP/Honors Contract for each AP and Honors class being selected. This includes if you are selecting an AP or Honors class as an alternate.
What can we do to help you? Please visit the Course Planning page on our school website – and then bookmark this page. The following is and will be available to you here:
  • The updated Course Planning Guide for 2018-19
  • The link to the Online AP/Honors Contract.
  • Information to assist you in setting up your student Homelink Account (you will need to obtain your Verification Code from our attendance secretary, your Academic Counselor or your Vice Principal.
  • Information to assist you and your child on how to enter your course requests online.
  • An updated list of courses which, due to low signups, are closed for next school year.
  • Any and all other pertinent information about course selection for 2018-19.
We hope you will use this information to complete the process. The more you can do ahead of time to help with the online course entry, the faster we will be able to get the master schedule built. Just as a heads up – we will be scheduling meetings with students in English classrooms beginning in March. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your Academic Counselor:
